Which Road? How do we know which path to choose when there are two (or more) good paths that we want to take in life?" In his poem 'The Road Not Taken', Robert Frost suggests we should take the one less travelled: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I — I took the one less travelled by, And that has made all the difference. But is it that simple? What if we want to go BOTH ways? How do we decide which way to go when both directions seem equally appealing? If there were an answer out there already, then it wouldn't be a unique path – it wouldn't be your path. Combining is a process of creation. The only tool you need is imagination, or as Walt Disney's said "Imagineering." When we create the third path, we will create the life that is most true and unique, to us, God's plan for us. My husband and I are currently in this dilemma. My life-long desire to earn a living playing with glitter and glue is unfolding beyond my wildest dreams and, as I shared yesterday, I was offered the perfect job to supplement it here in Surrey. But Chris and I share a combined dream, to serve aboard the Mercy Ship 'African Mercy' and, having now saved enough money to do so, we have submitted our application, initially for 3 months aboard. If accepted we could be called to 'Go' at any time. It's an exciting dilemma for us to have, but do I quit the great job that has been offered and will supplement my creative work for 6 months until we return nearer to family in the Midlands, or do we give up everything now and go? We don't have the answer, but God does, and he guides us all today exactly as he did with those in the Scriptures. When I write these devotionals again in January, I should be able to share what that answer was! Never give up on your God-given dream. "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing, and perfect will."
