[Thursday's Devotional] - Mountain moving prayer

Mountain moving prayer

Jesus replied, 'Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig-tree, but also you can say to this mountain, "Go, throw yourself into the sea," and it will be done. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.' Matthew 21:21-22 [NIV]

When we pray we can be confident that God will answer us. How do we learn to pray as people full of faith, the sort of faith that can move mountains?

First thing's first, don't focus on the mountain - focus on God.  What do we know about God?  That he is faithful.  We should focus our prayers on who God is and the truths we know about him.

Secondly, we need to remember to keep on walking - walk with God.  We have to take the first step, pray the desires of our hearts, and walk with him.

As we shift our focus from the size of the mountain to the faithfulness of the mountain-mover, and as we walk with God daily then our own faith will grow and our prayers will become bigger.

Try shifting your prayers today - rather than outlining the mountain to God, spend time focusing your attention on him.
