Prayer: Thanksgiving As we come to the end of the week, some of us who work Monday to Friday will be saying "thank goodness it's Friday" - I know I do! We all have so much to be thankful for, yet so often I know I take what I have been given for granted. So what have we to be thankful for today? The breath in our lungs and our health, our family and friends, our homes and communities, our food and that we have enough to meet our needs. The word of God and the freedom we have to worship, our church families and leaders. Nature and the beauty of creation, beautiful butterflies and birds, slugs, spiders and flies! The warmth of the sun and the grey dreary drizzle, the gentle summer breeze and the howling winter storm. Those who serve our takeaway coffee and those who harvest the beans. Those who teach our children and those who teach us humility. The list is endless, so should our thanksgiving be. But we are most thankful for Jesus, for His birth, life, death, resurrection and assentation that has enabled our salvation. Thank you sometimes seems too little to say. But it's so appreciated. What are you thankful for? Who can we thank today? Sally Williams | |
