[Wednesday's Devotional] -  Our Heart’s Desire

Our Heart's Desire

Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart's desire.
Psalm 37:4  [NLV]

Although at times life may take us through difficult times and pit-falls, as I shared earlier this week, God always has a plan for us, he knows who he created us to be.  When thoughts of something just won't go away, and are good things, we can be fairly sure they are God's desire for us. If we've prayed about it and are still not sure of the answer, we may not be able to recognise we already have it!

Ephesians 2:10 – For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. [KJV]

My whole life I have loved doing anything creative, I left school wanting to go to Art College, but as I left home at the same time I had to earn a living, so I trained as a secretary. My working life has been in administration and today I am a Headteacher's PA, however as much as I admire the Headteacher, my job has been so demanding (although nowhere near as demanding as hers and many teachers!!)

Since moving to Surrey 6 years ago, my work life has been incredibly stressful, but I have waited on the Lord for his plans to unfold, little could I have imagined how they would!  After beginning a creative project this January, it has been so lucrative I hoped to commit 2 days a week to it as a business, knowing it was God's leading I handed in my notice with the plan of looking for a 3-day week admin job to supplement my working hobby.

Even though at times we do not know the outcome of the steps of faith we take into the unknown, we can be sure that God does. What step of faith is the Lord calling you to take? And what fear is stopping you?

Prayer: Thank you, Father, for not giving up on us, but for encouraging us by your Spirit to go on through the trials and processes of life. Help us to see that your answers to life's questions are there. Help us also to be true to You and who you created us to be.
