[Tuesday's Devotional] -  Searching for Love

Searching for Love

So we grow, taller, stronger, and hopefully wiser about our surroundings, our situation and how we fit into this. Hopefully we have learnt to respect our parents and try to please them by how we behave - and our teachers too! With a bit of luck and a fair amount of hard work, we are learning well enough to get good results in our exams. However the ability to learn and remember all we have learnt is different in each of us. For some it will be further studies at college or even university, for others disappointment but perhaps a relief from the pressures of trying to learn what refuses to stay in their brain no matter how hard they try. For most of us there is a limit to how much we can learn and retain, so at some point we have to think about what we would like to do with our lives in terms of work, be it manual, creative, managerial, educational, or anything we really feel a need to do.

The point is reached and so we are released from the labours of learning and begin our time of growing into maturity of spirit and life in general. Whatever we do, however we proceed from now on, we are still learning. Learning the necessary skills of life. We continue to learn good from bad, how to interact with others, the skills we need to do the job we have chosen, and how we fit in to all this. Or not? For some life may be 'a bowl of cherries' and all will go well. For many things will be OK but will sometimes feel 'stuck in a rut' even though they cope pretty well with what life throws at them. For a few it will be 'top of the world' one minute and 'down in the depths of the ocean' the next. Unfortunately for some it will be a constant battle just to survive somehow, and for most it's not their fault it's just the 'hand life has dealt them'.

But wherever you are you will be looking for love, a partner, someone to share your life with. We all need that love. It keeps you going when times are hard, gives you a boost when you need it, makes everything worthwhile doesn't it? Without that love it all seems a waste of time somehow. Why bother? Nobody really cares do they? Well, yes, they do actually. God cares. He cares about each and every one of us, even if He doesn't seem to be there, doesn't notice us, is really too busy to bother anyway. HE DOES. Look for Him, seek Him out, ask Him for the help you need. Reach out, feel His love, and know that He is with you wherever you are, whatever the situation. Now go forward through life.

Feel the Love, it conquers all.
