Where did it all go? My how time flies when you are enjoying yourself, and even when you are not. But looking back you wonder where it all went. Retirement and time to relax, you've done your share of hard graft. Now sit back and enjoy watching the world go by, rushing about like nobody's business! Let the next two generations take the strain and help you make the most of what is left. Hang on, is that a third generation starting – wow! Families stretch from way back in the past and on into the future, and you've been an important part of that regardless of the ups and downs that have peppered your lifetime. When you all get together what tales you can tell and how you enjoy hearing all the latest news from sons, daughters, grandchildren and perhaps great-grandchildren. So what have you actually got to show for all your years of endeavour, planning, building, and all that stuff. Perhaps you might have a wonderful family, and a host of special and magic memories. It's great how some little thing can trigger a wonderful reminder of something you enjoyed maybe many years ago. Remembering a special old friend, a show you saw, almost anything from years gone by. But not so much to look forward to though, eh? Can't run about like you used to – nor me neither! Memory plays tricks too and we don't want to be rushing about anymore anyway. Of course we sometimes seem to be busier than ever. Wouldn't have time to do an actual job of work! But we know there's a limited amount of time left to do anything we want to do. But just a minute, it's not all over yet, and when the time does come to clock off for the last time that's really not the end. It's the beginning. That will be the time to meet our Father and we best be ready. Ready to thank Him for all things we have enjoyed, and I bet there have been quite a few at least! Ready to dance and sing His praises without a trace of any aches or pains, and find yourself absolutely filled with His love. Of course I've not been there and neither have you. It's not time yet. So keep smiling and enjoy yourself, you've earned it. The best love is yet to come. Jim Finch | |
