I Believe in the Holy Spirit I believe in the Holy Spirit, As a teenager I had a Saturday job working in a jewellery shop owned by Jan. Jan had a curved spine as a result of an accident at school. Her specialist told her when she was in her early 30s that her spine was degrading and she would certainly be in a wheelchair before she was 40. Our Church started praying for Jan, we prayed for healing. When she next went to see her specialist, the x-rays showed the damage was no longer getting worse, if anything it was reversing. He said that if he believed in miracles, this would be a miracle. It certainly changed the course of Jan's life; it's a long story, but within a few years she was an ordained Priest in the Anglican Church! "The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God" Romans 8: 16 [NIV] "Imagine yourself as a living house. God comes in to rebuild that house. At first, perhaps, you can understand what He is doing. He is getting the drains right and stopping the leaks in the roof and so on; you knew that those jobs needed doing and so you are not surprised. But presently He starts knocking the house about in a way that hurts abominably and does not seem to make any sense. What on earth is He up to? The explanation is that He is building quite a different house from the one you thought of - throwing out a new wing here, putting on an extra floor there, running up towers, making courtyards. You thought you were being made into a decent little cottage: but He is building a palace. He intends to come and live in it Himself." (CS Lewis – Mere Christianity) I am not an Atheist because the Holy Spirit changes lives today. Thank God for sending his Holy Spirit. Guy Mowbray | |
