The purpose of promotion God has a gap in your family, society, community, city, workplace, nation, etc. to be filled by someone for a purpose. God sees into the future and is always preparing people ahead of time for "such a time as this". Esther 4: 14 [NIV] Esther and Joseph were promoted by God for a purpose. God put Queen Esther in her powerful position for a purpose. Her role was to prevent the Jewish people living in the kingdom of Persia and Media from complete annihilation through a plot hatched by a wicked senior government official called Haman. Similarly, after suffering betrayal by his own brothers, time spent as a servant of Potiphar an Egyptian official and imprisonment for crime he did not commit, Joseph was promoted to be the second most powerful person in Egypt. God used his position and influence to save his family and the future Jewish nation from death due to global famine at the time. The bible says promotion comes from the Lord. (Psalm 75:6-7 KJV) Whatever you do and wherever God assigns you to go, be aware that you are there to make a big difference to more people than you will ever imagine. There is a reason for the favour of God that is upon you. The reasons fall into three categories: - To instruct the king - Joseph was adviser of Pharaoh, the king of Egypt. He became the voice of reason and he used that opportunity well.
- To intercept the devil's plan – Queen Esther became aware of a plot against her people and God used her position and influence to upset Haman's plans to eliminate all Jews from Persia and Media.
- To influence people for God's kingdom irrespective of character and culture of the place. For example, Daniel the politician and friends, stayed true to God by praying to and worshipping Him alone, even if this was prohibited and carried a death penalty in the kingdom of Babylon.
When God delivered Daniel's three friends from being burned by fire in a furnace and when Daniel himself was not eaten after being thrown into a lion's den for worshipping God, this was big news in Babylon. Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. He is looking for those who will stand for His values when promoted. Friends, how well are you using the opportunities God has given you? We must all go to work intentionally knowing that we are working for and with God. Prayer: Dear Lord. Thank You for the opportunity of working for and with You in this place. Open my eyes so I may be able to see what you are doing and join You. Lord, use me in this place for Your Glory. In Jesus' Name Amen! Farai Mutsambiwa | |
