[Friday's Devotional] - Week-ending

Well, we made it. Thank Crunchie it’s Friday! Get this one out of the way and it’s Fish and Chip night, and here comes the weekend!

And that is exactly where we can come unstuck!  We still have a full day to work through. To finish off what we started on Monday, look it over, tidy things up a bit, put the finishing touches to it, and offer our handiwork to the Manager, or whoever your superior is. Here’s hoping he/she will not want anything changing, adding to, or reworking. For some it might be a nervous time for a while, but we trust all will be well. Perhaps take a quick look at what the next week may hold for us, but not think too much about that for now, eh?

With any luck all will be well and we get safely through the day and head off with a smile. Although for some it will be the start of a busy weekend.  Marking, checking, preparing for the next week, or DIY now the days are getting longer, and the lawn wants mowing, and get the plants potted out, polish the car, and there’s the washing and ironing for some as well. We hope you all have some ‘downtime’ too, when you can relax with family and friends.

Of course we are aware that not everyone can have a good Friday.  Occasionally it means the end of a job for someone, perhaps through redundancy, or end of contract.  Will a few words with the Manager or whoever it is mean a postponement?  For one at least that we know of, talking Thursday night with the boss made no difference to what was going to be a very difficult and painful Friday.  If that was me or you would we call in sick or just take the day off and not answer the phone hoping things would go away? Jesus didn’t. He faced all that was asked of him and without complaint. His horrible day is our Good Friday, and through his action we are given the Grace of his, and our, Father.

Lord, we thank you for your Son, our Saviour, and that through him we are called Your Children. Grant us the opportunity to show your love to those we meet through each busy week and whilst relaxing at the weekends too. Amen.
