This is possibly my favorite saying. You used to find it on the back of shampoo bottles as an instruction for cleaning your hair. Basically it implied doing the same thing until you were satisfied with the results. Or if at first you don’t succeed……
The David Crowder song below is wonderful testament to “Lather. Rinse. Repeat”. I’ve taken out the chorus, to save space, but the repeating of the first paragraph shows how important this all is. If you don’t get how perfect God is and what he does for you, then Lather. Rinse. Repeat!!!!
I’ve stood in worship with tears streaming down my face at the line “When all of a sudden I am unaware of all these afflictions eclipsed by glory…..”
How many times does this happen. One of my favorite things in life (apart from the poetry thing) is to take our dog Barnaby for a walk. Barnaby a English Springer with the energy or a nuclear reactor, loves long walks. There he goes, wagging his tail bounding from one thing to another…..”And all my afflictions are eclipsed by his glory”. I can stand in the beauty of countryside I know, God Loves Me.
He is jealous for me, loves like a hurricane, I am a tree,
Bending beneath the weight of His wind and mercy.
When all of a sudden,I am unaware, of these afflictions
Eclipsed by glory, and I realize just how beautiful You are,
And how great Your affections are for me.
He is jealous for me, loves like a hurricane, I am a tree,
Bending beneath the weight of His wind and mercy.
When all of a sudden, I am unaware of these afflictions
Eclipsed by glory, and I realise just how beautiful You are,
And how great Your affections are for me.
And we are His portion and He is our prize,
Drawn to redemption by the grace in His eyes,
If his grace is an ocean, we're all sinking.
And Heaven meets earth like an unforeseen kiss,
And my heart turns violently inside of my chest,
I don't have time to maintain these regrets,
When I think about the way...
