1 Corinthians 10 gives us some encouragement:
So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall! No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. 1 Corinthians 10:12-13 [NIV]
In order to overcome our troubles we need to see things from heaven’s perspective. We need to understand that what the Bible is saying to us here on earth is exactly what God is saying in Heaven.
· We all face one kind of challenge or another
· God is faithful, He will do exactly what He promises to do
· There is already a way out of the circumstances – don’t ignore it when God shows you.
· The circumstances we face are already well calculated, measured and controlled
· Satan will not do anything to the righteous, blameless and blood washed believers, without God giving him permission and conditions!
The Lord said to Satan, “Very well, then, he is in your hands; but you must spare his life.” So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord and afflicted Job with painful sores from the soles of his feet to the crown of his head. Job 2:6-7 [NIV] (author’s emphasis)
So what are some of the ways out of our troubles?
The Film “58” – based on Isaiah 58, reminds us of the troubles the poor are facing all over the world and here is what God says about some of our troubles:
· For quick healing and answers to prayers, give to the poor – (read Isaiah 58)
· If one gives to the poor there is the promise - Whoever shuts their ears to the cry of the poor will also cry out and not be answered. (Proverbs 21vs 13 – NIV)
· Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done. (Proverbs 19 vs 17). (Author’s emphasis)
God does not waste words.
If you are like me and have troubles, don’t be cheated by religion or by those not facing the same kind of challenge as yours.
Religion teaches, you cannot do something e.g. give in faith and expect God to move on your behalf, in response. I am glad most of my answers have come according to my faith.
It’s also pleasing to know that Isaiah 58 was written for people whose motivation was they wanted God to answer their prayers and they didn’t know how to do it.
In His kindness God showed them the right way - take care of the poor, lend to Me and expect to be rewarded.
For no matter how many promises God has made, they are "Yes" in Christ. And so through him the "Amen" is spoken by us to the glory of God. 2 Corithians 1:20 [NIV]
