[Thursday's Devotional] - To win, we need to wear spiritual cloths of battle

As we continue with the story of Job we hear this conversation going on in Heaven:

“Does Job fear God for nothing?”  Satan replied.  “Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land.  But now stretch out your hand and strike everything he has, and he will surely curse you to your face.”

The Lord said to Satan, “Very well, then, everything he has is in your power, but on the man himself do not lay a finger.”

Then Satan went out from the presence of the Lord.

One day when Job’s sons and daughters were feasting and drinking wine at the oldest brother’s house, a messenger came to Job and said, “The oxen were plowing and the donkeys were grazing nearby, and the Sabeans attacked and made off with them. They put the servants to the sword, and I am the only one who has escaped to tell you!”
Job 1:9-13 [NIV]

As you meditate and pray about your challenges, know that it’s not people that are hurting or attacking you.  The Truth is it is Satan at work.

No wonder Paul teaches in Ephesians chapter 6 that we do not fight with flesh and blood, but with evil spirits in heavenly places.  He therefore advises that to win such battles we need to wear the following spiritual full armour provided by God:

·         Helmet of salvation,

·         Belt of Truth,

·         Breastplate of righteousness,

·         Shield of faith,

·         Fight with the sword of the word of God

·         and wear spiritual shoes of peace from what has been preached to you.
(Read Ephesians 6).
