One Big Family Today I want to celebrate my family. I thank God for giving me a wife. One of my favourite bible verses says: He who finds a wife finds a good thing and receives favour from the Lord. Proverbs 18:22 [NIV] My dictionary says favour means - "approval, support, or liking for someone or something or an act of kindness beyond what is due or usual". Think about that! I also want to thank God for the children He has given me. The bible says: "Children are a gift from the LORD; they are a reward from Him". Psalm 127:3 [NLT] Today, if you are married, draw up a list of the good things that show that God is pouring some great favours into your life through your spouse and thank Him for them. Find ways in which children are a reward from God and thank Him for them, if you have children. If you are single or with no children thank God for friends, relatives and people God has placed in your life. Imagine a world in which you lived entirely by yourself - no other people around, no one else who resembles you to talk with - only animals, birds and forests. Well, it was like that when God created the first man, Adam and placed him in the Garden of Eden. But listen to what Almighty God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make the woman to be an authority corresponding to him." Genesis 2:18 [ISV] That is when He decided to create Eve and over many years and generations, you and me, one way or the other, came from this first family. So let us thank God for one another. In His eyes, we are all one big family and He loves everyone, equally. As I read my bible and through my relationship with Him, God has revealed to me what life is all about. Farai Mutsambiwa | |
