[Tuesday's Devotional] - Look

Look

The Lord who rules over all says, "Think carefully about how you are living.  You have planted many seeds. But the crops you have gathered are small. So you eat. But you never have enough. You drink. But you are never full. You put on your clothes. But you are not warm. You earn your pay. But it will not buy everything you need."
He continues, "Think carefully about how you are living. Haggai 1: 5-7 [NIRV]

Having taken a moment to "Stop" we need to "Look".

Haggai the prophet is called by God to wave a "red flag" to point out the sin which is angering God in the behaviour of the people of Israel towards him.  The people have returned from exile in Babylon – but they have ignored the rebuilding of the temple.

He warns them that continuing in this way will result in poverty, famine and drought in the land they have returned to.  They are busy looking after themselves and neglecting the one who has provided for them time after time.

Can you look at your life for a moment through the eyes of God?

Is there anything revealed under the spotlight that needs to be put right immediately?

Lord, help me to see me the way You see me.  Make me open to obedience and soften my heart.  Amen.
