Badly Drawn God 5: The Enforcer of Laws Some people see God in terms of a policemen enforcing laws – Thou shalt not…. Their god surrounds them with prohibitions, they can feel it is wrong to have fun, enjoy the beauty of creation, and live in the 'real' world. But they see their separation as making them something special, that they are marked out as the favourites of their god. Compared to the secular world their lives seem dull and grey. No one can be surprised that such a god fails to attract those with a zest for the richness of life. This is so upside down from reality – The secular world does not get the chance to love and worship the creator God, who loves us beyond understanding. The Christian world should be the one full of life and light and laughter. The secular world should be the one that is dull, pointless and monotonous. "The question for them is: dare they defy and break away from this imaginary god with the perpetual frown and find the One who is the great Positive, who gives life, courage and joy, and wants His sons and daughters to stand on their own feet?" (J.B Phillips ) Ask God to show you were you are living under law rather than Grace. Don't suppose for a minute that I have come to demolish the Scriptures—either God's Law or the Prophets. I'm not here to demolish but to complete. I am going to put it all together, pull it all together in a vast panorama. God's Law is more real and lasting than the stars in the sky and the ground at your feet. Long after stars burn out and earth wears out, God's Law will be alive and working.
