[Tuesday's Devotional] - Starting Afresh

Starting Afresh This year we have had a change in our change - by which I mean we have new coinage. The familiar round pound coins have been replaced by 12 sided coins. The queen has aged on them too.  Some of you will notice that the new coins are very like the old brass threepenny bit from the "old money" before decimalisation in 1971. Why the change? Because there were so many counterfeit coins in circulation that the Royal Mint had to start again with a new design. Sometimes things are no longer fit for purpose and need to be changed. Apparently, the old ones are going to be melted down to make the new ones. There is plenty of information on this website if you are interested: www.thenewpoundcoin.com  The Bible tells us God is not averse to destroying things that are bad and starting again… think of the story of Noah's Ark for a start! (Genesis 6:5-8) ..and this verse: "He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful."
