God Knows the Way Ahead 'Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. Isaiah 13:19-20 [NIV] When the Israelites were taken through the desert for all those years, they must at times have wanted to give up, to go home, to get angry with God because of the uncertainty, the heat, the food, the conditions… And yet God was leading them onwards. Even if they didn't understand the whys and wherefores, God knew what he was doing. He was taking them to the promised land. We are facing change in our own church community at the moment and there are times when we all ask why? What will it mean for us? Who will lead us? How will we cope? We may not know, but God knows the answers to these questions – we just need to trust and he will be with us each step of the way. Please pray for the appointment process, the drawing up of the parish profile, the choice of parish representatives, and for God to be preparing the right person to come and lead us. Pray too for Olly and Hannah as they leave us, and for Olly facing a new challenge. Mairi Mowbray | |
