[Friday's Devotional] - Unchanging God

Unchanging God

"Change and decay in all around I see
O God who changes not, Abide with me." (Henry Francis Lyte)

So run the lines from the well-known hymn "Abide with Me" often sung at commemorations and funerals, as well as the London Olympics in 2012. It is a great reassurance to know that even if our circumstances change and cause us anxiety, that the character of our God never changes. His love is constant. The promises he makes to us are not subject to change. In all things, he is faithful, reliable and worthy of our trust.

Creator God makes all things new,(Revelation 21:5)  but his character is the same, yesterday, today and tomorrow.(Hebrews 13:8)

"The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
    his mercies never come to an end;
 they are new every morning;
    great is your faithfulness."
Lamentations 3:22-23 [ESV]

Praise God for his faithfulness and his steadfast love.
