[Tuesday's Devotional] - Let it Grow

How does the Bible stimulate growth in the follower of Christ? As followers of Christ we are part of God's family, we don't just believe in him we Belong to Him. As members of the family we have an inheritance (something which is coming to us here on Earth and in the future in Heaven). The word of God can help you to grow as Paul said to the people of Ephesus:

"Now I commit you to God and to the word of his grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified." Acts 20: 32 [TNIV]

You will recall that we looked last week at a key verse which keeps recurring during this year:

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 [NIV]

Let's look at the four ways this verse tells us that the Word can help us to grow:

· Teaching – showing me the path I should walk on

· Rebuking – showing me where I fell off the path into a ditch

· Correcting – showing me how to get back on the right path

· Training in righteousness – showing me how to stay on the path

Lord, thank you that I belong to your family and I have a wonderful inheritance. Help me to use your Word to grow. Keep me on the right path. Amen.

Memory Verse: Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law.
Psalm 119:18 [NIV]
