[Tuesday's Devotional] - Weakest of the Weak?

Weakest of the Weak?

Fast forward a few years from yesterday's episode and God has a plan which involves Gideon:

The Lord turned to him and said, "Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian's hand. Am I not sending you?"
"Pardon me, my lord," Gideon replied, "but how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family."
The Lord answered, "I will be with you, and you will strike down all the Midianites, leaving none alive."
Judges 6: 14-16

Do you feel like you are not the best person to be used by God?
Do you look at others and think they could do things better than you?
Perhaps you are suffering from "impostor syndrome" and feel that you are not able or equipped to do the job you have been given?
You are not alone...

Sometimes great things come in unremarkable packaging.  So often in the bible, God uses weak individuals to illustrate his strength.
How often do we see these 2 equations:

Weakness + God = Victory
Strength – God = Failure

Consider:
  • God chose to use Moses (a murderer) to lead the Israelites out of Egypt
  • God used David (a young boy) to defeat the giant Goliath
  • Jesus entrusted 12 unlikely and un-talented fishermen, tax collectors and hot-headed men to spread the Gospel
Pray for the strength to complete the tasks you have been given this day, this week and this year.
