Walking in Light But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. 1 John 1: 7 [NIV] If we are "walking in the light" then our relationships with others will reflect the light of God. Right relationships can only come as a result of living and walking in the light – if there is conflict in the church or the fellowship is struggling, look first to the darkness of damaged relationships with God. And where better to start looking than at my own relationship with God... But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Galatians 5: 22-23 [NIV] I feel at best that I only have some of the fruit, some of the time – perhaps a sign that the Holy Spirit is not fully in command of my life. A recent news item claimed that if we could increase our intake of fruit and vegetables from the "5 a day" that has been the advice given for some years now to 10 items a day, then more cancer and heart disease would be prevented – saving many lives every year. What if we could experience the 9 fruits of the Spirit (from Galatians) every day? Life would be so much better, and our dis-ease would be prevented, and relationships made right. Lord, help me to be purified from sin, and full of your Holy Spirit – help me to know and experience the fruits of your Spirit in my life, my church, my family and my community today. Amen.
