Jesus loved people and He still loves us I was struck with awe to see the long distances Jesus and His disciples travelled to preach the gospel and heal people. He also went through considerable pain while doing Kingdom business. For example, we went to Jericho and saw a mountain where Jesus spent 40 days living in a cave, fasting. But apart from the actual crucifixion itself, nothing stood out for me more than this dungeon which made me shed some tears. The Gospels never mention what I am about to tell you. However, inspired by the Holy Spirit the Psalmist in Psalm 88 prophesied that Jesus would spend the night in a dungeon. Yes, even when Jesus was talking to the two disciples on the road to Emmaus (Day 2 account), He mentioned that He came to this world to fulfill what was written in the scriptures. In the temple built to preserve the place of Jesus' judgement and where Peter denied Him three times, I was shocked when our guide explained, "….after Jesus was arrested in Gethsemane, he was thrown into this pit, ready for judgement the following day!" All His sufferings left me with no doubt that Jesus loved people and still loves us. He willingly did this so you and me might be saved. All for the price of repenting from our sins and accepting Jesus as our Lord and Saviour, we have the hope of spending eternity in Heaven. Friends, do not let the sun go down without making the right choice. Farai Mutsambiwa | |
