[Monday's Devotional] - Does your tongue need healing?

I have just finished reading the above book by Derek Prince.  It’s only a small book which I bought years ago and I put off reading it because I already knew the answer!

There is something very significant about the way in which our Creator designed the human head. Every one of us has seven openings in our head, the number in Scripture which often denotes completeness. We have three pairs of openings: two eyes, two ears, and two nostrils. But the Creator restricted the seventh opening to one, the mouth.  The author asked people, "How many of you wish you had more than one mouth?” no one did.  This one opening causes me more problems than the other six put together, but thankfully we are all works in progress.

God is the great physician.  Doctors of old determined our medical condition by the following questions “How are you?” and “Show me your tongue”, when the patient stuck his tongue out, the doctor looked very carefully at it. He then formed his estimate of the patient's condition much more from looking at his tongue, than from the answer the patient actually gave to the question, "How are you?"

I believe God asks "How are you?" and we may give him an estimate of our condition, but when God looks at our tongues, He forms His own estimate of our true spiritual condition - as the heart overflows through the mouth.

“If you grow a healthy tree, you’ll pick healthy fruit. If you grow a diseased tree, you’ll pick worm-eaten fruit. The fruit tells you about the tree. “You have minds like a snake pit! How do you suppose what you say is worth anything when you are so foul-minded? It’s your heart, not the dictionary that gives meaning to your words. A good person produces good deeds and words season after season. An evil person is a blight on the orchard. The power of the words we speak in our lives, and the lives of those around us bring life or death, today let’s choose life.
