[Thursday's Devotional] - Where is the end of your rope?

I’ve tried everything and nothing helps. I’m at the end of my rope. Is there no one who can do anything for me? Isn’t that the real question?  Romans 7: 24 [MSG]

Perhaps you have been feeling like this recently?  Are you at the end of your rope?  Do you feel that nothing can be done to put things right?  The problem is that we live in a state of struggle over what we hope our lives could be like and how they actually turn out day by day -  and sometimes, if we are honest this can lead to the despair Paul expressed in his letter to the Romans.

Fortunately, if we read on, Paul answers his own question:

The answer, thank God, is that Jesus Christ can and does. He acted to set things right in this life of contradictions where I want to serve God with all my heart and mind, but am pulled by the influence of sin to do something totally different. Romans 7: 25 [MSG]

Lord, thank you that when I feel like I am at the end of my rope, you remind me that you sent Jesus to put things right – even if it doesn’t look that way today.  Amen
